R3 is seeking an In-Semester Associate to work with the Corporate Development team through the summer 2021. This nimble team is responsible for traditional M&A activity (e.g. intellectual property acquisitions, licensing, and joint ventures), early-stage venture investing, and strategic corporate finance analysis.

As part of the venture investing activity, the team runs R3’s Corda Development Fund (CDF) with a dedicated balance sheet for pre-seed and seed stage investments in startups building Corda-based applications (CorDapps). 

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting due diligence for new investment opportunities and preparing relevant internal documents to support the investment decision-making process
• Conduct market sizing, financial analysis, and general quantitative modeling as needed
• Conduct research in nascent commercial opportunities, analyze established industries for disruption and formulate opinion / presentations
• Assist in monitoring and supporting the portfolio companies
• Support the corporate development team with other ad-hoc projects and deliverables 

Key Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a top MBA program and able to dedicate up to 20-40 hours per week from June to August. Dates are flexible
• 2-4 years’ experience required in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, venture capital & entrepreneurship or management consulting, ideally with a focus on technology
• Excellent financial modeling skills, including the ability to value illiquid (private) assets and nascent businesses
• Exceptional analytical and writing skills
• Familiarity with enterprise software and B2B technology is preferred
• Familiarity with and interest in enterprise blockchain technology is preferred
• Keen focus on details, accuracy, and professionalism
• Strong understanding of accounting, corporate finance, and enterprise valuation 

How We’re Handling Covid-19

Since March, most R3’ers have been working remotely, although we have opened some key office locations global, with limited capacity for those that cannot work from home or need to come into the office.

As you go through the virtual interview process with us, please don’t worry if children or pets make a guest appearance. We understand these things happen- it’s real life after all! If we are fortunate enough to welcome you to the team, we’ll get a laptop couriered to you and get you set up virtually on your first day.  We also provide you with a “Work From Home” allowance to enable you to purchase some equipment to be more comfortable and productive.
