We are looking for an experienced network engineer wanting to join an innovative start-up in the distributed ledger space. The role offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution in an industry-leading, high-growth Fintech business developing one of the leading distributed ledger technology platforms. Distributed Ledger technology brings brand new challenges to the role of the network engineer, with networking and cloud service integration coming to the forefront of business and technical strategy.

Our flagship platform, Corda Network, is a distributed ledger platform which will ultimately link millions of Corda customer nodes communicating publicly over the internet and privately via dedicated communications. These customer nodes will be accessing a range of network services offered by R3 and for which high performance and continuous availability is essential. The Corda Network architecture integrates in-house, cloud-based and on-premise customer facilities.

You will play the lead role in building and operating the network architecture for Corda Network, overseeing its growth into the world’s leading DLT platform. You will have deep enterprise infrastructure knowledge and network integration skills together with strong communication and the ability to convince others of your ideas. You will be able to collaborate effectively with development, infrastructure architecture, operations and production support teams. You will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and will enjoy working in an atmosphere of high enthusiasm, passion and independent thinking.

Your responsibility will be to operate the existing network whilst leading an analysis of the current network architecture, designing the iterative developments needed to support the very high planned growth of our business, keeping a close eye on ongoing operational performance and robustness of the existing environment and being able to assist in technical troubleshooting. You will also be expected to lead the build of future iterations of the architecture across physical and virtual infrastructure, operating in an Agile environment appropriately configured to the need for continuous availability, rather than deployment.

You will take a hands-on role in network build-out and operation, working with a mix of internal and external engineering teams, including our cloud infrastructure suppliers, and you will be expected to ensure they are all working to a common network architecture and design. You must be able to rigorously segment and prioritise requirements according to the fast-changing
