R3 is an enterprise blockchain software firm working with a broad ecosystem of more than 300 members and partners across multiple industries from both the private and public sectors to develop on Corda, our open-source blockchain platform, and Corda Enterprise, a commercial version for enterprise usage. Our global team of over 275 professionals in 13 countries is supported by over 2,000 technology, financial, and legal experts drawn from our global member base. The Corda platform is already being used in industries from financial services to healthcare, shipping, insurance and more. It records, manages and executes institutions’ financial agreements in perfect synchrony with their peers, creating a world of frictionless commerce.

R3 believes that distributed ledger technology (DLT) has the potential to transform many industries, the finance industry included. Our team comprises proven thought-leaders in the DLT space who have been selected for their craftsmanship, passion and expertise. The Corda platform has demonstrated huge potential in the market so far, and as we keep pursuing our ambitious goals in this challenging space, the quality of our software will be paramount to our success.

The Software Engineer in Test will be responsible for developing functional and non-functional test cases to validate operation of the Corda platform using and extending R3’s regression automation framework for testing (CRAFT). Since testing the Corda platform requires running applications on the platform, test case development will include writing CorDapps to ensure full coverage of our libraries and APIs. The successful candidate will have hands on software engineering experience in a test capacity, understand the challenges of testing platform technologies, demonstrate critical investigative abilities, and be able to work well at all levels of the development stack. They will have a successful track record of delivering complex software projects and be able to point to experience of establishing sound software development processes and test tooling. They will be experienced in multiple languages and multiple development methodologies, be comfortable with ambiguity and may have worked both in banking and startup environments. Capital Markets and/or Trading technology experience is not mandatory but a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop functional and non-functional test cases within R3’s regression automation framework for testing (CRAFT)
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of CRAFT working as part of an agile software engineering team
  • Develop and maintain a library of CorDapps for use within the testing process
  • Participate in prototyping and experimentation to validate the system architecture
  • Partner with internal and external teams in testing, deploying and operating highly scalable blockchain networks
  • Undertake complex system performance analysis from the ground up to determine operational limits of the system

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of enterprise software engineering of which 2+ years on test automation
  • Deep and broad understanding of computer science and engineering principles
  • Proven track record of delivering test automation for highly complex software systems
  • Experience planning for and executing end-to-end functional and non-functional tests
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Comfortable and able to work under pressure

How We’re Handling Covid-19

We are extremely grateful to continue to grow as a company during these unprecedented times. Our #1 priority is the health, safety, and wellbeing of our current and future R3’ers. We want to share with you what we’re doing and what you can expect throughout our interview and on-boarding processes.

Since March, most R3’ers have been working remotely, although we have opened some key office locations global, with limited capacity for those that cannot work from home or need to come into the office.

As you go through the virtual interview process with us, please don’t worry if children or pets make a guest appearance. We understand these things happen- it’s real life after all! If we are fortunate enough to welcome you to the team, we’ll get a laptop couriered to you and get you set up virtually on your first day.  We also provide you with a “Work From Home” allowance to enable you to purchase some equipment to be more comfortable and productive.

We Have And Will Continue To Take Steps To Ease Some Of The Burden For Our R3’ers

We understand that Work From Home (WFH) life can be challenging in many ways, so some of the additional support measures we have in place include;

  • New Starter WFH allowance (as mentioned above) to get you setup to work productively at home
  • Additional access to wellbeing resources (as well as the support provided as part of your Vitality Private Medical) including a year’s free subscription to the Headspace app and modules on our Lessonly training platform from MindGym (including Goal getting, Stress Busters and Virtual Work)
  • We also have additional health and wellbeing resources available on our wiki pages when you join.
