We are looking for an Engineer to join an amazing group of technologists to help us performance test and tune Corda, Corda Enterprise and other products in the Corda ecosystem. Corda’s characteristics as a highly performant and scalable distributed system presents some interesting challenges around performance testing and tuning. As part of the team responsible for test tooling, you will be working closely with the core platform engineers to ensure we continuously test, verify and tune Corda’s performance.

You can work independently to research a problem domain to gain insight and subsequently deliver the work and solve the problem. Most importantly you are excited and motivated by the challenge of solving hard problems in a way that delivers to internal customers within Engineering as well as external customers. You are passionate about engineering and test automation and have experience with performance testing and/or tuning in a JVM environment.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the test tooling team delivering high quality code
• Work with the core engineering teams to ensure the high performance requirements for Corda are meet
• Work with the build engineering team to ensure performance and stress testing is an integral part of our build pipeline
• Code review peers both within your team and in the wider organisation
• Champion engineering excellence

Education and experience

• Good understanding of engineering principles, most likely obtained through a combination of advanced academic study and professional experience
• 2+ years experience in an enterprise level environment
• Experience of multi-threaded programming and the challenges of concurrency
• A strong understanding of the JVM
• Experience with performance testing and/or tuning in a JVM environment
• Familiarity of multiple layers of the infrastructure and application stack, particularly with distributed or message oriented systems
• Proven problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
